The search for a Toronto man who went missing two months ago has re-intensified after his car was found Sunday in the Georgian Bay town of Killarney, Ont., 350 kilometres northwest of his family's Haliburton-area cottage.

A seven-year-old girl is dead after she was struck by a van while riding her bike yesterday.Toronto police say a 41-year-old man was driving along Bay Mills Boulevard in the Warden Avenue and Sheppard Avenue area in the city's east end about 12:45 p.m. when he let a boy cross the street at a crosswalk before proceeding.

A 20-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge following a fatal stabbing in an east-end Toronto park last week.Toronto police say they were called to the scene Wednesday night and found a 20-year-old man with stab wounds to the chest.

Series of summer fires may be linked, police say

Toronto Police have said for the first time that a rash of arsons in west-end neighbourhoods in Toronto this summer may be the work of a single firebug. Officers are investigating three sets of suspicious fires since July, the most serious of which involved seven separate fires near Christie Pits Park that caused $2-million worth of damage. Most of the blazes were ignited in piles of garbage, debris and in dumpsters.

Missing 17-year-old found dead in Etobicoke

A 17-year-old boy missing since Saturday morning was found dead yesterday afternoon near Dundas Street and Royal York Road in Etobicoke.Toronto Police Detective Mike Dvernechuk said there was no trauma to Taylor Whitney's body, but alcohol may have been a contributing factor in his death.

East-end stabbing results in city's 54th homicide

Russell Hoffman, 34, was stabbed to death yesterday morning in Toronto's east end near Danforth Avenue, Toronto police said. Emergency personnel responded to a call in the Pharmacy Road and Denton Avenue area at about 12:20 a.m., where they found two men suffering from stab wounds. Mr. Hoffman was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, the city's 54th homicide of the year. The other man was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Wanted for second-degree murder are Alfredo Dix and Bartosz Prusakiewicz.

Burlington firefighter dies during competition

A funeral will be held Thursday for a Burlington firefighter who died of an apparent heart attack during a fire extrication event at a competition in Indianapolis, Ind. . Wayne Topping, 48, collapsed Friday shortly after completing the event with his teammates, who were unable to revive him. Mr. Topping, a nine-year veteran of the department, was married with two sons and a stepson.
