Are patients being told enough about their cosmetic surgery before being put under the knife? A woman died in Toronto last week after liposuction; Krista Stryland went into cardiac arrest at a clinic and died in hospital. The circumstances are under investigation, but plastic surgeons have raised concerns about the degree to which family doctors can practise cosmetic surgery without receiving the training necessary for plastic surgery - at least five years of study and training in surgery after receiving a medical degree. After a record-setting spring and summer, Mother Nature decided to make it a hat trick yesterday.With the temperature reaching as high as 33 in Toronto, not only did the city have the warmest Sept. 25 on record (the old standard, in 1958, was 28.3), it was the highest temperature for any fall day dating back to the beginning of record keeping in 1840.
