Toronto Conservative candidate David Shiner, under fire for not leaving his city council job during the provincial election campaign, now says he will do so.But Mr. Shiner's declaration, which he later had to clarify, drew stiff criticism from his fellow politicians and the Liberal he hopes to unseat in Willowdale.

Colleges plan PR campaign to combat falling enrolment

Ontario's community colleges are looking for more respect - and more students - in the face of declining enrolments on some campuses and the growing popularity of a university degree.An increasing number of students are flocking to Ontario universities, with enrolment climbing, especially in the Toronto area. At the same time, applications to colleges fell 2.2 per cent last year, and student numbers have barely budged.
