The Liberals retained their firm political hold on Toronto last night, with Conservative leader John Tory trailing in his bid to win a seat in Don Valley West. As in 2003, the Conservatives looked to be completely shut out of Toronto, as the party's other top hopefuls came up short in Willowdale and Scarborough-Guildwood.

A 27-year-old Toronto man is facing a slew of firearms, drug and forcible confinement charges stemming from an incident at a downtown hotel early Tuesday.It's alleged a man held two prostitutes at gunpoint in a room at a hotel near Dundas Street West and Jarvis Street. Police say the suspect had fled by the time they arrived, but he was located and arrested later in the day.
